The trip to Kerala as a family begins with the comfortable flights to Cochin and Trivandrum from Qatar Airways or Emirates . Both airlines allow you to fly with all comfort with an intermediate stop that divides the trip into two exact halves , perfect for the youngest of the house to be entertained with a movie and other services on board without being overwhelmed.

Upon arrival we are welcomed by the historic Cochin . The city is set on several islets off the coast where Vasco de Gama arrived in 1498. Cochin is a pure history of European colonization with its colorful houses and its bohemian and artistic atmosphere .

Here we suggest you enter the spectacle of the kathakali , an Indian ritual theater where the little ones can learn how gestures and looks tell the Hindu myths . On the beaches of Cochin are the famous Chinese nets , structures on the shore that allow fishing without having to go fishing. The whole family will have fun helping to raise these curious artifacts that are still in use as centuries ago. What you can fish you can cook in the bars of Fort Kochi or if you prefer a more luxurious dinner, you will find it in one of the colonial hotels of the city.

Leaving Cochin, you must enter the Western Ghats , the mountain range that separates Kerala and Tamil Nadu . Here Kerala as a family becomes a journey of the senses between mountain landscapes and beautiful tea plantations dotted with colored saris . You will find here the legendary gardens of spices that fascinate the little ones for the variety of flavors, colors and aromas of spices that grow intermingled and interdependent. Munnar and Kumily are the obligatory stops of this route that ends in the Periyar Natural Parkwhere you can walk along the banks of the lake on the back of an elephant or ride it by boat and approach the big cats and the tropical fauna of the largest national park in India .

Upon returning to the coast, the whole family can enjoy a relaxing river cruise on the Backwaters , a region of fresh water canals near Alleppey where old rice transport boats have become houseboats . You will live like a local eating with your hands on banana leaves the delicacies cooked on board while you navigate through the beautiful villages surrounded by rice fields.

A trip to Kerala as a family should end with a few relaxing days on the southern beaches . Kovalam or Varkala are some of the enclaves where you will find the best Ayurvedic treatments and massages for the elderly and a wide range of water and nature activities for the little ones to enjoy their first trip to India on the shores of the Arabian Sea.
