All foreign citizens, in general, require a visa to enter India; which must be requested online through the following link .

Currently, Chilean citizens can apply for an online visa to travel to India from Chile , a much simpler and friendlier procedure.

* Update 26.03.2019 ″ In addition, since March 2019 the new visa to India  has a validity of 1 year , period during which you can enter India when you want, although it will be good to know that, once you arrive, the period of stay Maximum without departures is 90 days.

You must therefore fill out the visa form with all the information requested, and once you have done so you must print it and attach a good quality passport-sized photograph. This form, together with the additional documentation required, must be submitted in the Consular Section of the Embassy; whose address is shown below:

Address : 971 Alcántara, Las Condes – Santiago
Telephone : 56 2 – 22284141/22286857
Fax : 56 2 – 22061959
E-mail: info@embajadaindia.cl
Hours of operation (Visas): Monday to Friday from 9.30 to 11.45

Please note that the Embassy does not accept visa services if the corresponding deposits are made in the month prior to the visa application , and refund applications will not be processed. Thus, all consular services must be requested at the Embassy within the same month in which the required fees are paid. And those applicants who carry out the process via email must ensure that their applications are sent four days before the end of the month in which the corresponding bank deposits have been made.

The required fees must be deposited in cash in the bank account of the Embassy. The name of the applicant must be reflected in the deposit slip, which must be attached with the printed copy of the visa application form. The bank account number of the Embassy is 10278-4, Banco Santander.

One of the additional documents that the applicant must present is that of a valid passport for a minimum period of one year. Normally Chilean passports will be returned on the next business day.

As there are different reasons to visit India, the Government issues different types of visas. In this way we can apply for a tourist, business, employment, student, research, conference, transit, journalist visa, etc.

The tourist visa is granted to those who visit India for tourism purposes. There is the possibility of obtaining valid visas for six months.

You should keep in mind that the period of validity of the visa will be the one you request, and therefore you are responsible for this application. Thus this validity is not extensible, nor can the purpose of the trip be modified.

The validity of the visa is from the date of issuance (please note that the visa is valid since it is issued, not since it enters India). On the other hand, the visa can be rejected without having to offer any reason for it. Once the visa rights are received, they are not reimbursed, even if the visa application is waived or it is not granted.

As for the rates that correspond to the different types of visas , you can check them in the following link . As well as general information about the visa application process. Although, it should be noted that the tourist visa corresponds to a payment of CHF 74,700 for stays of up to one year. In case of applying for a visa with a duration of between 1 and 5 years the price is 147,200 CH $.

Diplomatic and official passports have a special visa regime, so they should contact the Consular Section of the Embassy directly.
